A car and two motorcycles were involved in a fatal accident, and according to first responders, the cause has yet to be established.
Tragedy struck on Interstate 35 late on the 9th when an SUV and two motorcycles were traveling north, close to the 125-mile marker. The accident took place late at night in Irwindale, near the West Mix Master. Reports indicate that the SUV changed lanes and struck one of the motorcycles, and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a release from the Iowa State Patrol, the driver of the SUV was transported to a hospital. The second motorcyclist took evasive action to avoid the worst of the accident and managed to slide to safety. As of yet, the second motorcyclist has been reported as suffering from minor injuries, but has required no additional medical attention beyond what was provided on the scene.
The 31-year-old operating the first motorcycle collided with the SUV and experienced fatal injuries.
