Find A Lawyer After A Motorcycle Accident

Posted February 28, 2023 in Uncategorized

A woman who was the passenger on a motorcycle succumbed to her injuries after an accident in the early morning hours of November 2, 2022. The accident happened in an intersection–one of the most dangerous areas for motorcycle riders and one of the places where accidents most commonly happen–when the motorcycle collided with a car. According to witnesses, the motorcycle rider was driving over the speed limit at the intersection of 19th Street and the Interstate Highway 235 off-ramp.

According to the Des Moines Police Department, witnesses who saw the accident occur state that the car was legally coming into the intersection at a green light when the motorcycle hit the car. While the driver of the car was in stable condition at the hospital, the unnamed motorcycle rider was in critical condition at the hospital and the passenger, Lynz Ross, died. The Des Moines Police Department has noted that this was the 19th fatality related to traffic in 2022 specifically in De Moines and of those 19, 10 of them involved a motorcycle; the police officers believe this is a result of many people speeding excessively. Many motorcycle accidents could be avoided if motorcycle riders and vehicle drivers did not drive distracted and did not drive at excessive speeds.

Getting Help For Your Motorcycle Accident

When you are involved in a motorcycle accident and were the one who was operating the motorcycle, it can feel like the world automatically blames you for the accident happening. It is crucial that you speak with an Iowa motorcycle accident lawyer to get the help you need when you would like to file your claim. Whether you were operating the motorcycle or were a passenger on a motorcycle, your lawyer will work to gather evidence proving liability and demonstrating why you need compensation for your injuries.

The team at Des Moines Injury Law knows that there are risks that are unique to being on a motorcycle. Unlike cars or other vehicles on the road, motorcycles do not have the same safety features available to riders, require different skills for operating the motorcycle, may not be able to handle road hazards like other vehicles, and are not as stable as other vehicles. This can increase the risk that a motorcycle rider will get into an accident on the road and will come away seriously injured, or worse.

After you first get injured from an accident, you may think that it is as simple as filing a claim and getting the compensation you rightfully deserve. However, motorcycle accidents are often not so simple and the insurance agents involved in motorcycle accident claims often have preconceived notions before even getting started. Because motorcycle accident claims can be more complex, your injuries may be severe, and there is a statute of limitations tied to filing a claim, it is best to speak with a lawyer as soon as you can after your accident.
