Man Dies In Iowa Grain Bin Accident

Posted August 28, 2015 in Personal Injury Blog

The Des Moines Register reports that a 27 year old man was tragically killed in grain bin accident at the co-op in Farnhamville, Iowa.

It is being reported that the man was cleaning the grain bin when he was engulfed by soybeans.

As noted elsewhere in this site, the agricultural industry is one of the most dangerous industries there is and this tragic situation certainly highlights that fact.

Due, in part, to new technologies, farms, co-ops, and other agricultural businesses are seeing more volume than ever before and it is being processed faster as well. This increase in production has, unfortunately, led to an increase in injuries and death as well.

In addition to suffocation type deaths, agricultural workers can also be injured by explosions, falls, electric shock, faulty equipment, and more.
